Killerwhales in Lofoten

Between Bremneset and Tysnes, around midday in 2005, the sea opened itself. We found them!
A family of orcas moved calmly through the water, together, heading west. They stayed with us for a moment — then quietly slipped away. In the background rose the majestic beginning of the Lofoten mountains.
Shaped by winter, wind, and time itself.  The light was gentle, almost reverent, as if aware that this moment needed no emphasis.
I try to feel the perspective to the fact that in the nearby archipelago, rock carvings remain
life sized figures etched into stone more than 10,000 years ago.
Depictions of animals, movement, and presence.
Traces of people who once stood here, looking out over the same sea.
The year is 2005. But time is larger than that.
This is not an image of an encounter. It is an image of continuity.
Of life passing through, returning, and moving on.
